Appointments

**New Service:  You can also access routine gp advice by using our Web GP service - click the tab on the right of this page.**

In addition to our team of doctors and nurses we have an experienced nurse practitioner, therefore allowing us to increase the number of doctor and nurse appointments we can offer every day.   Nurse practitioners, or advanced practice registered nurses, are qualified to take patient histories, perform physical exams, order labs, analyze lab results, prescribe medicines, and authorize treatments and counsel patients and families on continued care and refer when required. Nurse practitioners’ array of qualifications, and the fact they can work independently of doctors to treat patients is a valuable addition to our services.

On-call GP: We have a duty doctor available each day for emergencies.  When you call the surgery we willl ask you about your symptoms and a doctor will call you back, but if your problem can be dealt with by the nurse practitioner then it may be a nurse prescriber who will ring you back.

Did you know you can book & cancel appointments on line?  Call in at the surgery for your password.

You can book appointments via the internet but you will need to visit the surgery in person to collect your log in details to be able to use this service.  Please click on the link at the right hand side of this page, then enter your username and password to see our available appointments.

Our nurse appointments show what you are able to book into the appointments for, please do not book in for anything other than what the appointment slot says it is available for as that appointment may not be suitable for your problem.

You can only book appointments for yourself via your personal log in, you cannot use your log in to book an appointment for another family member but ask us about this.

Our doctor’s appointments are booked at 10 minute intervals. We aim to offer appointments 1 month in advance, including those earlier and later in the day. Our receptionists will ask for brief details of your condition when you contact the surgery for an appointment, they will then offer you a GP, Nurse Practitioner or Practice Nurse appointment as appropriate. By using this system, we are trying to give the best possible patient care by accommodating those patients who need to be seen for acute conditions and those patients who have more long-term needs, allowing them to book their appointments in advance.

If you have a number of issues to discuss with the doctor then it may not be possible to address all of these in 10 minutes. It is possible to book a longer appointment if necessary, just ask the receptionist when you book your appointment.  For gynaecological examinations please request a 20 minute appointment.

We offer appointments on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings until 7.30 pm and on one Saturday morning per month between 9.00 am and 11.00 am.  Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings we have both doctor and nurse appointments available.

We are a Group Practice and you may see any of the doctors, however, we would encourage you to try and see the same doctor for a long term problem as this helps us to offer you good continuous care. If you see the GP and they ask you to come back for a follow up after a certain period of days/weeks please visit the reception desk on your way out to book this. Please be aware that if you wish to book ahead to see a particular GP for a non-urgent problem you may have to wait a few days as none of our GPs work at the practice every day.

If you are unable to make your appointment or no longer need it, please cancel it immediately as we can then offer your appointment time to another patient. This is extremely important as appointments are in great demand. You are able to leave us a message to cancel on our answer machine when we are closed, at lunchtime or over night.  If you are regstered for on line services you can cancel through SystmOne on line.

Please ensure we have an up to date telephone number (including mobile numbers) at the time of booking to avoid any cases of miscommunication if we need to contact you about your appointment.

**Access without steps Patients who are unable to use the stairs can be seen in a downstairs consulting room, please request this when making an appointment.  The surgery reception area and downstairs waiting room have easy access without steps.  The surgery has a toilet for wheelchair users off the main waiting area.
